Get a clean needle and cotton, thread it through the blister. It will wick out the liquid allowing the inside to dry. This is a tip I got from someone who was in the army at the time.

The blister popped itself already when I was walking. It's an ex-blister, but it's all angry and red.

Ah, right. I'd recommend you slap a compeed blister plaster on it, then. They're not cheap but they're very good. They kind of act like a new skin - they have gel inside them. They say you're not meant to put it on weeping wounds but doing that works for me. Boots sell them. They also sell other blister plasters which are cheaper and similar but not nearly as good. Compeed all the way.

if it looks angry and red i would go to a doctor or drop in NHS centre it maybe infected i no you kept it clean but sometimes it can just happen.

While its healing wear some sort of shoes that have no backs to them like sandles or something just to take the pressure of shoes off it

I would agree with the Compeed. I think i would also suggest a drop of lavender essential oil twice daily (i think you already know your skin is ok with lavender?)

This is pherring the ex-athletic trainer talking:

(Disclaimer: Author is on new meds and gets a bit rambly. Also this will hurt like no other but work really well.)

Trim all of the dead skin off the blister fingernail clippers work well for this, and keep it covered with the most awesomest lotion you can find -- in the states I would recommend Burts Bee's. Keep it covered and clean it twice daily with some sort of antiseptic wound cleanser something or other

Repeat till the skin grows back.

Old post is old, and blister has healed. Thanks though. I used a bit of lavender essential oil and a magic blister plaster made by a company called Compeed.
