In Gnomepants Manor, it is I that does the laundry and pan cleaning. Also, nobody is allowed to clean my expensive pans except me :-)

I have been told off by men for doing laundry wrong. I am somewhat domestically challenged, and I'm not a man. That said, I think there's more expectation that women be competent with laundry and whatnot, which puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on me. So they should stop it at once.

I'm reasonably diligent about caring for my pans though.

My partner was terrible - he ruined pans, burnt food to the pan (he thought putting it on max heat just made it cook faster) was terrible at washing up and washed everything together

Now I have shown him why those things matter he cooks great fajitas, sorts the laundry and while I normally cook washes up to (OK, barely) acceptable standards

An ex of mine was once cleaning up my flat when I'd been depressed for a few months. He took metal cutlery to an (admittedly cheap) saucepan, and was really annoyed when I objected. I have stored this resentment for a few years!

It's good when they can be taught ;-)

I think he just never realised why it mattered - things like that didn't matter to him until he saw how lovely our home could be

IME, male housemates have far more domestically challenged than the females (I am being diplomatic here *g*)
