As far as I can see D, the man in our house, is more careless in not seperating laundry into light and dark and getting temperatures wrong than the rest of us. However I'm unwilling to generalise.

The clothes that were white or pastel .. and wearable .. before you boiled then with your navy blue rugby kit.

oilrig will destroy anything non-stick. I tend to think of him being a streotypical "bloke" but i've shared kitchens with much more fastidious men.
When i lived with just my Dad he did the laundry becuse i'museles at reading the little lables and puting things on the right programme and i did the cooking because i'm better at that. The divison of labour was entirely about skills not gender. But later in random house shares i met some incredabley undomesticated men who had to be trained in all housework and now i do tend to assume that most men will be a bit useless.

I just wash all laundry at 40° with the mixed-colours program - I have no "white" laundry to speak of anyway. Washing anything warmer than that is a waste of energy anyway.
