You mean saying something like 'not all transsexual people pass as the gender that they self-identify as'?

Well, yes. In that maybe it's not so much chosen by you as identified by you. I'm just guessing.

Yes, if you browse under the search term "self-identified gender" there are relevant research articles, so whether it's accurate a term I don't know, but it seems to be in currency.

Thanks. I'm sometimes better at dealing with difficult things on my own; I have to be able to look after myself enough to get out of the situation and thus I do. If someone is looking after me I have a bigger change to freak out further.

I have some of your stuff: gloves, and things you left on the bath.

I've heard "target gender", but I'm not convinced about that one.

The STI clinics in Portsmouth are gender inclusive and they don't actually refer to you with male/female pronouns, or with any titles like Miss/Ms/Mrs/Mr. I'm surprised that London is so backward in that respect. They actually ask you to fill in a form when you go in, which you can fill in as much personal detail as you wish, including your chosen name. Grr at London!

"preferred gender", as a preference isn't the same as a choice (I prefer not to eat Brussels sprouts, but I wouldn't say I chose to dislike them.)
