I played soccer last summer (for the first and probably last time ever, although I loved it) and I had a lot of pain in my Achilles and calves starting out (later on the pain was in my shins, which was way harder to treat.) One common soccer stretch that my sister taught me that helped a bit was to go down on my hands and feet (not knees) and then having one knee bent and the other straight and then switched. This way I could put as much force as I wanted into the streth. It was really effective.

Since soccer involves a lot of running, you might also want to look up common beginner soccer stretches on line. Here's one site with a few good pictures of different stretches:

I hope some of that helps. Good luck with it. I admire your persistence in running--I don't have the mental strength for it.
