if there was a setting that would bring two brothers to be more than close, I do think that the one in the series if one of them. warriors yes. watch your brother's back, sacrifice everything for him (especially Dean) is their motto. that's why at one point I did make the jump to Wincest because for them, it's believable. I do think Dean really longs for a family of his own and that he'd be an incredible dad, but that is in theory. In practice, I don't think he could do it, not in the long haul (even if I want him to have his happy ever after. so let it be with Sam ;) )
Exactly. That's why this whole meta thingie was based on. every sitation and circumstance is binding them closer and closer. Joh taught them to watch out fro each other, and that's what they are doing. Both of them dreaming of a normal life, kids and wife, but they know it we all know it, they couldn't have it. Their past... and everything... If you got 'raped' by supernatural you won't be able to just toss it out of your head, and forget that it doesn't exist. "Sammy, You know you supposed to be afraid of the dark, you know what's out there". They cant whip their memory clean.
And if they remain the who they are... they supposed to do it together. That's why I went towards Wincest too. Because it actually makes sense... and I'm not talking about the sick way. I'm talking about pure emotions only.
Thanks ;) I like it too. I'm actually proud of my research this time :)
I think you make a really interesting point. I'm a huge J2 shipper but have never really been able to get into Wincest because I can't really get past the whole OMGWTF THEY'RE BROTHERS thing. But I definitely, definitely see how it could have evolved out of their relationship since we clearly aren't talking about any ordinary brothers here. And also, HELLO, hotness ;)
Thank you. Well my whole point was to prove that it's not about being wrong or right, it's more about the individual situations and the people (in this case Sam and Dean) who are in it. I think you can't judge how they would react... I'm just trying to explore some deeper aspects of it.
I'm not so fond of incest myself but I see two men who are like water and air to each other... If they would be a girl and a boy... the whole fandom would agree that they are a couple. It's because they are so close and it's just works...
In the ancient Greece they weren't prude at all. They did what was the best for them. In this case if they find comfort in each other arms, they would just nod and approve, because that would make them even stronger. Because this is the last step... to be the closest thing in the world.
This was such a fascinating reading *adds post to memories* indeed it is the bond between the two of them that makes Sam and Dean those incredible (and effective hunters). There is something that you wrote that totally says why we just LOVE this show:
And the love for each other is imprinted in their soul forever. Their love, their bond makes them more stronger and weaker at the same time too. How many time Dean said to Sam "I'm your weakness and they know it too"?!
It is hard to see them having what we would call a "normal" life because of just everything that they went through and how their partners would view that. Bottom line, they only have each other... and that raises sooo many questions when thinking about where these upcoming seasons will lead us :P
Aww thanks. I had fun writing it and researching it. I believe they are what they are and they can't change... and everything they do is about the other. Sam goes to the dark side because of Dean.. Dean goes to hell because of Sam... it's all about each other and it's a never ending circle. I think Dean got out of hell because of Sam as well. If Sam wouldn't have gone a little dark God wouldn't have sent his angels. At least so far the story looks like this. Although I think the picture might be bigger.
Anyhoo, they are soldiers and I think they could be bonding more than one ways. Physical love is just one step the last one. But that is like the physically closest they could get. Screw the hug ;)
I WILL SERIOUSLY KILL LJ IF IT EATS MY COMMENT AGAIN. *opens editor* Why isn´t there an auto-save thing for comments?! Somone should report this as a bug to LJ, ahahaha.
Anyway, ignore whiny me, what I really want to say is that the whole Greek soldiers analogy is highly fascinating and the similarities are very striking, to be honest. Since Supernatural deals with ancient mythology, it´s not too alien from the subject to assume Dean and Sam could be the modern Greek soldiers. Their relationship always went beyond brotherly love because their devotion and just complete dependence on each other makes it impossible for them to trust anyone else as much as the other brother. They never learned anything else because they were raised this way and in a way, it´s also not a normal or even healthy relationship but since when were anything that´s connected with the Winchester brothers average or easy? Their whole dynamics is highly complicated but they fit together like that so it´s no wonder that so many people see and write them as lovers,

J! I agree with you. That's why I wrote this post on the first place. I think Sam and Dean is a Greek Tragedy. Greek Dramas always end up with some twisted family love, and I think this is just the same spiced up some really deep shit, called demons, angels and other supernatural creatures that makes the brothers bond even stronger

I think you haven´t read the interview in which Jared says it since it was pretty spoilery for Season Four, even before it started. But, uh, don´t ask me where it is, I actually have no idea, hahaha. Oh, wait, I think I have it (btw, the thing after the white picket fence and them being warriors was me and not Jared, lol, I just meant that he said he said something along the lines of their relationships with women not working):
IGN: You mentioned a sex scene, but in general, neither of the Winchester boys have very good luck with relationships.
Padalecki: [Laughs] Yeah. He had one in Season 1, I had one in Season 2 and we kind of got rid of it after that. We don't have much luck with women. Sam especially - his mom burning on the ceiling; his girlfriend burning on the ceiling. He's kind of S.O.L. when it comes to relationships, but I guess that's one of the themes of the show. Sometimes you have to make some s**tty sacrifices to do the right thing. (Source.)

I've read that interview DAMMIT! lol How the hell I can forget about it?! *smacks self*
Anyhoo, I' not saying they are becoming Sam and Dean... what I'm saying is that they are developing towards being brothers, being really really close to each other. Fuck, they are living together, they share the same friends, I bet they just wink at each other and they know what the other thinks.
I'm saying that the onscreen chemistry relationship what's on the show... is getting really similar to the one that the have off screen. I mean not counting the demons and their crazy father who raised them.
I'm saying that they are that close as Sam and Dean are and everything what they are doing it drags them closer. It's like Kripke planning the perfect actors to manifest his perfect warriors. I don't know if I make any sense :P
LOL! I bet you are head over heels for it, but I feel weird about "normal" incest. Not about Sam and Dean though. As I wrote down here I truly believe that they belong together.
Yeah Greeks seem to fit with the boys on so many levels, it's frightening.
OMg YES!!! I want them to be in armor and make out!!!! like NAOW! lol

it's a nice parallel with the Greeks, I like it.

That's the point of this meta. :)
Thank you for reading, seriously.
