Not fair that the people applying for the audit job have the advantage of not necessarily needing the degree if they have relevant experience. I feel cheated, since my translator degree is out of university. Would have loved to apply for the first category though. Oh well, can't be helped I guess.

Yeah, they are more desperate for auditors than for people working in other fields!

Very interesting! Have alerted dear_hubby to this, although the time-frame isn't quite what he needs at the moment.

Still, for further down the road, who knows?

Thanks again!

Margot Wallstrom gave a press conference today, saying there would soon be a concours for communications specialists. Journalist ears pricked up all around the place. They are looking for 50 people to work at national level. This will not be an open concours, apparently. A second stage competition will canvass Brussels-based would-be-fonctionnaires.

Do you have any idea what the tests are like - do you need complete fluency in a second lanugage, or is excellent comprehension and get-by reading and writing enough? And is the 'public administration' job the one which could land a job in Relex? And do you know if you get a choice about what DG you could get appointed to?

I can probably find this all out somewhere, but you seem to know a lot about it.

"Working knowledge" rather than "complete fluency".

Yes, the administraors job is the potential RELEX one!

I understand it's all a bit random but that the more determined you are to go in a particular direction the more likely you are to get there. (As in life generally...)
