Results are out all over the net, best source is here. The fiction winners were all born (as far as I know) between 1958 and 1972 - indeed, the Best Novel Award was shared by two writers both born in 1972, China Miéville (for The City & The City) and Paolo Bacigalupi (for The Windup Girl). Note that the source for Hugo winners you have listed has an error. Patrick Nielsen Hayden won the Best Editor - Long Form. Ellen Datlow won the Best Editor - Short Form. Hugoawards.org has the winners reversed.

I'm rather disappointed, though not particularly surprised, to see Moon , which is solid stuff but could have been made in the 1960s, win over District 9, one of the sharpest bits of sf satire in years, and even Avatar, which whatever you think of the originality of the plot, will come to be seen as as significant a turning point for sf-in-film as Star Wars was in the 70s.

I suppose Avatar could be seen to be significant, but it will not rival Star Wars; I would actually doubt that it's possible for anything to ever rival Star Wars' influence on SF/F in the general media. My guess is that Avatar will be a few-year movement and pretty much forgotten in 20 years.

Our book group did The City and the City a few months back, and maybe I'm retarded but I'm the only one who wasn't impressed. I think it would have worked better as a short story, or perhaps set in the past. I did suggest a bad crossover idea: Sex and the City and the City.

Cannot recommend Moon enough. But avoid all spoilers beforehand.
