So, in the midst of a number of problems relating to my job, house, car and finances (nothing catastrophic, but listing all the things that have gone wrong recently is not cheery, so I am not going to bother) I decided to tempt fate and perk myself up by messing about with my hair. I am now in my second week of my new job at the prison. There is so much to take in - the nurse side of things is fairly straightforward, but there is so much that goes with working in a prison that may take a while to get used to. Because of the current financial problems in the NHS, finding job vacancies for newly qualified nurses is pretty tough. Despite not qualifying til March, I had applied for a couple of jobs in ottingham around Christmas. I did not get an interview. I may be in shock.

I just had my first interview for an RMN post. It is at the local Young Offenders Institution and isn't really what I want to do, but given that I qualify in a couple of weeks, I can't really be choosy. They are going to ring me today to let me know if I have been successful. I don't know whether I want them to offer me the job or not ( Read more... )

So, last time I was at the hairdressers having bleach poured all over my head, the nice lass that does my hair asked if I had considered 'going darker' for the winter. So because I am easily influenced, I had my hair dyed dark brown today.

Finished the essays of doom. Just doing a last minute check that I haven't accidentally written the whole thing in 'text speak' and then I'm heading to York to hand them in.

So, just got to complete my placement hours between now and March and I'm done.

How good is that?
