So, I recently read mazarin221b's excellent crossover with Top Gun, Across the Sky(R), and I COULDN'T STOP the fanart. The story is a perfect balance of action, fluff and angst, such a joy to read. For those of you who haven't seen the movie (watch it!), Top Gun is the story of a cocky pilot who gets a chance to compete against the best at the Top Gun Naval ( Read more... )

i've never read this fic but this poster convinced me to click the link *__________*

love how recognizable everyone is! love the composition, and i'm always always impressed by people who manage to draw inanimate objects well. <3

YES! That is exactly what I was going for. It's a great fic, no?

Hehe, I actually think I enjoyed drawing the car and airplanes more than the people. Though Sherlock was fun. Sherlock is always fun. :) Thank you for the lovely compliments!

You are on a major awesomeness roll with your art lately. This is absolutely fantastic, you've really nailed the characters. And I love the tire marks on the ground, you've captured the energy of the part that immediately precedes this scene. Also, the palette is really nice, with the colours that evoke the desert, dusk and dawn.

Wow, thank you! *blushes* I've been feeling inspired by all the wonderful fic around. Thanks, the tire marks were a last-minute addition, I'm glad you thought they worked! The palette was tough--I'm still not very comfortable with coloring, and I worried that it turned out too garish. Good to hear you liked it. :D

John's expression! also echoing the praise for how you have composed the "shot"

I don't think I'll overcome my Tom Cruise allergy enough to see the film, but knowing mazarin221b's talent, must make time to enjoy the fic...

Thank you for the compliments! Ah, a Tom Cruise allergy is very understandable. I first saw the movie when I was young and impressionable and had never yet heard of Oprah. :) But the fic is awesome, definitely a great read and Cruise-free!
