"Seriously?" Alice asked, chopsticks holding her pho above the broth. "She said that?"
Rodger nodded. "And I told her it was a breed of noodle," while making inroads into his fried rice. "Speaking of which, why do you order that if you don't eat that," making a stabbing gesture at what was still floating in her bowl.
"I like the flavor it gives. Doesn't mean I like to eat it."
"Can I have it?"
"That's tripe," Nikki said once she stepped up to their table.
Alice said, "Good to see you again, Agent Betancourt - and if he doesn't eat it, do you want it?"
"Sure," and pulled up a seat.
"Wasn't sure you'd make it," Bloom told her.
"Didn't know I'd be the subject of conversation, though."
"I find people show up faster, if their ears are burning."
"Seriously?" Nikki asked around a chewy piece of tripe.
He shrugged. "So why'd you arrive alone?"
"Granger couldn't make it," Nikki said. "Guess he figured if he came, it'd be too much like a double date."
She just wasn't sure which of them was going to say And this is a problem because...?
