When I moved into my apartment it was somewhat devastating to see the carpet for the first time. A funk greeted me as I opened the door and I was pretty sure I was walking on the remnants of a crime scene (or milk spilled by an apathetic and/or blind grad student). If anything could end my graduate career it would have to be vacation. I haven't seriously thought about lab once, and really, if I quit, my family wouldn't care.
