I missed most of Arakawa's skating, sadly, but I agree with you about Slutskaya (is it wrong that I mentally snicker every time I see her name in print). I thought the breakout performance of the night was the little Georgian girl in the black and gold, and Emily Hughes seems like a sweetheart.

"So if I come in a bit earlier, would I be able to leave earlier in the evening?" Sheesh, it's amazing how quickly word gets around. And apparently, someone asked someone else in my lab, "So, what hours does the laziest person in your lab work?" If somebody had asked me that I would have said, "What are you doing here?" but a guy in the lab had the perfect diplomatic response, "None of us are lazy".

oh my gosh, thats almost like "If I turn in a book 1 hour late, will they fine me?"

I hate people who ask stupid questions like that, especially with the little eye glints.

On the other hand, I can see the crux of their issue--
I would bet that the laziest person in Haw Yang's lab here works more hours than...say, the most dedicated student in the Harris group. It's an effective gauge in a way to ask.
