He's tall and skinny for his age, standing at almost a full 6 foot and weighing about 150lbs.. not anorexic or anything, but definitely on the low end of normal for his height and built. It isn't for lack of eating, either, because he eats and eats and eats, but he just doesn't gain weight easily at all, no matter what he tries.

Nate has brown hair that is usually worn a little bit messy and brown eyes. He has an expressive face, one that generally wears a smile and he can often be found in Muggle clothing when he isn't required to wear his Hogwarts Uniform.

Personality:
Nate is a pretty friendly and easygoing guy. He's rarely mean to anyone who hasn't given him a REALLY good reason to be and he doesn't have much of a temper at all when it comes to himself. He can take insults hurled at him just fine and only really becomes annoyed if someone he really cares about is hurt or insulted. Even then, Nate is much more prone to fight back with his wand than with his fists.
He could be easily considered quirky by some. Nate believes in things easily and is easy to manipulate, but he also tends to take every word of the Quibbler at face value, even the more ridiculous sounding stuff. He likes to spend time in the Greenhouses, too, and will insist that the plants talk to him. He'll spend hours down there having conversations with the plants, even though it seems that no one else can hear them. When people call him on this, he merely smiles and tells them he is just as sane as his sister.
Which, you know, knowing Ruth Ann, really isn't saying all that much.
Nate is fiercely determined when it comes to things that he wants. He's not afraid to work hard to get the things that he wants. With Quidditch, for instance, he practiced and practiced, trying out every year until he was finally given the Keeper spot on this year's team.
While not prone to violence much, Nate is protective of his sister to an insane degree. He feels compelled to defend her and she pretty much has him wrapped around her pinky. There's just about nothing Nate won't do for the girl, even if she does insist on calling him Jon, no matter how many times he tells her he hates it.
Strengths: Both magical and personality: His best/favorite classes are Charms and Herbology. He has a natural gift for Charms, but his obsession is for Herbology. Nate likes to spend a lot of time in the greenhouses and it's not at all unusual to catch him talking to the plants.

Too much Night of the Living Dead is probably responsible for this and when he read about Inferi for DADA class, he had nightmares about being chased by them for a week.

Jonathan Hunter was born in California to an American Muggleborn mother and an English half-blood father, followed about four years later by a younger sister, who was born in England while the family was vacationing there. They lived in Venice, California, until Nate was about nine, at which point his father moved the family to England to pursue his occupational interests and try to become a bit more successful in his line of work (Europe simply holds more business than the States, having a much older and more established magical community). Nate remembers California a lot more clearly than his younger sister, and he really missed it at first, but by the time he reached the age for entering Hogwarts he had grown pretty much used to their new home, even if he hadn't really made many friends.
Making friends was easier when he entered Hogwarts. He was sorted into Hufflepuff almost the instant the sorting hat touched his head and, while he wasn't happy about this at first (he'd heard a group of upper years on the train talking about how ridiculous Hufflepuff House was and a couple of fellow first years mentioning that they'd throw themselves into the Whomping Willow if they got sorted there), it didn't take him long to really embrace those values of his house and realize it really was the best place for him.
Nate wasn't the most athletic boy ever. He'd been learning to surf before the family moved, and he'd always loved any sport involving the water, but he seemed to have no coordination on land, always tripping on legs that were too long for him. Flying, though, he discovered was another thing entirely. Nate had a grace on a broom that he lacked on the ground and he loved flying almost from the first day of flying lessons in his first year.
The other aspects of Quidditch, he wasn't quite so good at, though, and even though he tried out several times, it wasn't until his seventh year that he actually made the team, becoming the Hufflepuff Keeper. It seemed like all his hard work and determination to be good enough to put his love of flying to good use finally paid off.
As far as the rest of his life at Hogwarts, Nate is neither overly popular, not is he a complete outcast. He has a few personality quirks that make him seem a bit weird (like spending far too much time in the greenhouses communing with the plants), but he's a friendly guy and generally pretty likable. He has a handful of close friends and has even had a girlfriend or two, though he tends to focus a bit more on studies than socializing.
