Illyria was in the Library, as was usual for her Wednesday afternoon while Atticus was in Astronomy. Currently she was reviewing that day's double Potions lecture, with some difficulty. Never being the natural at that particular course she always found herself taking much longer to do homework with Potions than anything else.
Sigh, she wished she could be done with it so she could get back to her book. She cast a long look at her book bag, debating whether or not she should take a ten minute break to read the next chapter, but decided against it. She picked up her Potions book and started from the beginning of the chapter again.

Danny noticed that Illyria had turned all the way back to where she'd started from. Good Lord, why? Did the girl have a Potions Problem?
He picked up his own work and headed over to her. He at least recognized her from various places, and he knew of her family -- good start, right? Danny kept reminding himself that he was supposed to be being Friendly. That meant all the time.

Illyria peered over at the newcomer from behind her giant book. "Ah, hello Daniel," she said politely, lowering her book a little now that she knew who it was. He was pureblood, and therefore she was to be civil in his company.
She gave him a curious look, wondering why he chose to come and sit with her when they rarely spoke. Ah well, perhaps he'd make his reasons known.

"How are you?" Danny offered, opening his own book. He hadn't spoken to Illyria in... ages. Actually he wasn't sure if they'd ever had a Real Conversation? In any case, that made things awkward.

It was another rainy day, and a little cold, so Derek figured it was maybe a study day. He wasn't looking forward to it necessarily but he could probably stand to get a thing or two done. And hey, he hadn't been to the library in awhile. Maybe there was a good Defense text he hadn't looked at yet. Just because he had Transfig this afternoon didn't mean he couldn't mix it up some, yeah? Clearly.
Stretching and glancing toward the windows as he walked into the library, Derek told himself that he was going to be productive. Yeah, it was kind of early to be thinking but he could manage. Better to spend his time on school work now than the afternoon right? Right. Now let's head toward the defensive spells section.

Danny was seated in a corner next to the defensive spells section, studiously going over something for Charms. He had ink stains on his hands and looked, overall, a bit more rumpled than usual. His shirttail was actually OUT, for gods sake. He paused in his writing, biting his lip in thought.
Unfortunately he'd dropped his bag on the floor in a perfect position for tripping over.

There were plenty of good books in here that Derek hadn't read yet and he was going to find one. His eyes, as soon as he neared the right section, were already skimming over the spines in search of something promising when something caught his foot and tripped him up. "Buggering-" Derek did a quick catch, managing not to fall but still looking a bit like an idiot as he stumbled in the aisle. At least no one was around to- Oh. "Hey Danny." The bag did belong to someone then.
Derek felt like a div now that he knew he had a witness but oh well. What could you do. A second look took in the other bloke's slightly disheveled appearance and Derek frowned. "You alright there? You look a little..." For lack of a handy explanation Derek gestured vaguely in the air.

Eyes wide, Danny looked up when someone tripped on his bag -- bloody hell! It was Derek. And he'd left his bag out in the middle of the way as bold as you please. Danny flushed, quickly reaching for the bag and dragging it up under his chair. "Sorry, I guess I just sort of threw it --"
Derek was now gesturing in the air and asking if he was okay. Danny tilted his head. "A little..." he looked down at himself. "Ah. Um. Yeah, no, I'm fine."
