I was social today, too. I attended Abbey's zumba class (moms pay just $5 to come too) and danced with my friend Shan, and later was social with one of Abbey's friend's mom's at a very loud birthday party at a "night club" for kids.

Social is good. Ish. Glad I did it.

That sounds very social!

I suspect my day was quieter. :) At brunch I sat next to a woman I've met twice before and conversed about stray cats, car purchasing, and virus epidemiology. I learned a lot. (For example, did you know the HIV virus is now thought to have crossed into human populations as long ago as 1908?)

I've been curious about Zumba for a while. Various places offer it, but I've been afraid that I'm not in good enough shape to keep up.

If you were to say to me, "nightclub for kids" I would have replied, "Chuck E Cheese"? What is a nightclub for kids like?

My mom, who is normally a couch potato, was able to do zumba (and LOVED IT) in her early 60's. She only stopped because she had a detached retina, had to have surgery to repair it, and was told by the doctor she wasn't allowed to do it anymore, so she couches again, which is very sad ( ... )

"Hullla-Hoop"? I'd be quietly snooty about their ignorance if they'd spelled it "hulla", but "hullla" is just mystifying.

Parts of this seem like Very Bad Ideas (donut-eating contests) but it does all seem like stuff a kid would like.
