They take a while - two risings - but the amount of actual labor is quite small. Just mixing the dough and, later, rolling it out and up -- you don't even have to knead it (although I did a little to make sure all the flour was incorporated.)
The mess is limited to flouring an adequate space to roll the dough out. And I put down a tea-towel first so I could just shake it into the trash and have a clean counter underneath. A very satisfactory baking experience!
Without glaze (I find glaze distracting) they average 238 calories each, according to Master Cook.
They are. They freeze well, too. I'm very pleased with them (although I didn't realize I was going to get two dozen of them when I set out to make them!)
