As much as Ken would have loved helping to clear Hogwarts of duckshrews, he wasn't particularly skilled with magical creatures- least of all creatures that had already landed him deathly ill for weeks on end. Now that he was feeling better (and about bleeding time) he would have liked to help. It just wasn't in the cards. Righteous annoyance only went so far and Dumbledore had people far better equipped to handle the situation. Ken had offered to stick around but Albus had sent him off. Crone supposed the old man could deal with a few Ministry prats. Honestly, he was happy to be out of the castle. He hadn't insisted too seriously.

Now there was the matter of enjoying his holiday. There were plans to stop by his sister's house for Christmas but until then, he was staying with Jenn (who may or may not be brought along with tomorrow when Ken went to see Leah and her kids). The girlfriend in question had run off to the bathroom and though Ken was giving consideration to following her he was, at the moment, still at their table.

Lenore didn't know why she was even here.

By all rights she should be at home. By herself. Or maybe if she wanted to stop wallowing she would have floo'd over to Callum's or Geoffrey's or Mac's without giving notice and demanded that they entertain her- without mentioning the why. Then again no, not Geoffrey. The last thing Lenore needed on her birthday was to be around that younger man so that he could poke fun at her. Not today ( ... )

It had been plenty long enough since Jenn had gotten up that Ken thought he could intercept her on the way back without it being suspicious. Not that he really cared if anyone noticed but half the fun of these things was thinking that you were getting away with something, even if you weren't.

Another good looking brunette brushed by in front of him as he made his way past the bar. Ken wouldn't have stopped but...he sort of knew her. "Sorry, Grey."

Lenore wasn't about to stop either but being recognized here wasn't something she'd expected. That was part of the beauty of Muggle pubs. The use of her name turned her head around. Given who it was, she wasn't sure she should be happy to be noticed.

Somehow the bump now seemed personal. "Right. I'm sure you are then."

January 7th - Kings Cross Station/Hogwarts Express tia_bostwick April 10 2008, 01:26:10 UTC
Well, her parents might be nervous about her going back to school but- well, okay. Tia was sort of nervous. But really, just because she'd gotten sick it was no reason to worry. The nurse had made her better so as far as Tia was concerned the school still had a clean record. It wasn't the fault of anyone there that people had gotten sick. As a child of eleven, Tia caught her fair share of colds. They happened. Once she'd gotten better she hadn't thought any more about it.

There was the bit about abductions last time, which Tia was a bit worried about now they were in the station but her mum was right here and she'd said something about extra Aurors posted about to keep things safe- whatever Aurors were. In any case, Tia was determined not to worry about it. If the adults said it was safe than it was.

And now it was time to go back! Excellent as it was to have been home where she could tell her parents first hand about all the super cool things she'd been learning, she had to go back and learn more or else she'd run out of ( ... )

Daniel wouldn't ever admit to being scared to going back to school... but he kind of was. He'd not been at Hogwarts for a full year, and look at all the things that had been going on!! Two kids his age had been kidnapped or something that first day, and then practically half the school got sick! Or maybe not half, but it seemed like there had been a ton of students packed in the Hospital Wing. So it was understandable why a boy his age would be a little scared to be back at the station, about to leave his family for the second time that year ( ... )

"Daniel!" Tia heard her name called from across the platform and waved madly back. She would have run to him if he weren't coming this way already. It was one of her schoolmates. Tia hadn't seen him in weeks and weeks! All thoughts of nerves were out the window now. The train was right there and magical people were all over and one of her mates was here! School was BRILLIANT ( ... )

Same could be said for him. As soon as he had spotted his classmate... Daniel wasn't as scared. He wasn't sure how that worked out or what it meant, all he knew was that he wasn't alone. He had great friends like Tia here. And Ryan! Where ever that kid was at... one didn't have to worry as long as you had others by your side, right? Right.

"Everywhere!" He exclaimed, though that might have been a bit of an exaggeration on his part. He honestly didn't know how many Aurors were posted around the place. But he assumed that since he saw that one(and really, who knew if it actually was an Auror -- the bloke looked like one, though, so he was inclined to believe it. Oh, to have a wild imagination!), that there had to be others around the station ( ... )
