I want to make some of those winter warmers that can be slung in a microwave to be warmed up!

Is this a good idea? What do I need to know? What wool is safe for such a project?

Any advice greatly received

Pretty much all wool is safe to use in the microwave. Don't use anything with sparkles in it.

Do you want to felt it before adding the rice/lavender/whatever you're putting inside? If so, no superwash. If not, then just knit nice and tight. Lining your wool outside with linen or cotton to help prevent any of the insides from coming out might be a good idea, too.

Do you plan to make it for slinging around shoulders? For keeping in a pocket?

I plan on making it ball shaped.
