We forgot to bring Callender into the picture. Don't you think he might be the downfall of Hamiltonia at least? He could work as a double agent, undermining Hamilton/Burr relations until tensions came to a head (Ellisonian mixed metaphor, anyone?).
He was so horrible. Awful. Guh. He makes me want to go back then and slap him in the face. I have to stop dwelling before I get angry. Couldn't Hamilton pay him to slam anyone who tries to revolt? And if he starts to be bought off by the other side, I dunno, trample the rights of the press and arrest him and not allow him to write anymore.
Or he could undermine them. Either way. We'll discuss this, or add it to our list of questions to ponder. For now, so much reading.
Nina was telling me about you possibly taking Mink's class. I almost took it myself, until I saw that the entire Democracy in America was one of the books. Anyway, Mink is so awesome. I had him for Race and American Political Development. He really knows his stuff and is very excited about teaching. He runs very well organized class discussions, including sending out emails about what to focus on and think about in the reading. I also really enjoyed his approach to papers. Overall, my favorite politics professor I've had at MHC.
I'm kind of down with the entire Democracy in America. Because, yes, I'm crazy.
I've heard so many good things about Mink... and the course description really looked fabulous... so I sent him an email being like "Please?" and he's visiting so you never know when he'll leave so... yeah. I think it could be something to actually be excited about, even if it is a lot of work.
