Weiss took Parker by the waist to the dance floor. "Charleston or jitter bug?" he asked with a grin.

Parker gave him a deadpan look as "In the End" played. "Please be joking?"

"Completely," Weiss said. "I couldn't jitter bug or charleston my way out of a wet paper bag."

Parker rolled her eyes but kept the grin and started to sway to the music. "So where were you dancing last New Year's Eve?"

"Somewhere small, cramped, and porcelain," Weiss said. "Really better to not get into it."

Parker snickered and draped one arm around his neck. "So 2007 is already off to a better start. Take it as an omen."

Weiss held onto Parker's hips and followed her swaying. He was no great dancer but he could follow and right now, he wanted to follow his incredibly hot best friend... "Things seem to be going... really well so far," he said.

"And it's not even midnight yet." Parker managed to stop herself from purring. Just. Barely. Okay, maybe not at all. She cleared her throat, and said, "Yay New Year. Without any screw-ups in it yet."

"Good call." Parker nodded in determination, then grinned at him. "Thanks for coming to this party. I would've hated to have to split Cedric with Isabel for most of the evening."

"I'm having a great time," Weiss said, grinning back. "Your friend Angel knows how to throw a bash."

"He should at this point." Parker shook her head, swaying a little, just enjoying the music and being held and not having anywhere else she had to be, or think about. "Two centuries of party-going, you pick up a few things."

Weiss danced along with her, trying to keep a rhythm (although given his status as a middle class white man, this was proving a lot of work) and feeling all too aware of the curve of her underneath the dress material.

Parker grinned up at him, feeling mischevious. "So if you don't Charleston or Jitterbug, I'm assuming you don't tango?"

"Only in the name of masochism," Weiss said. "Joke. I could probably pick it up. It's a lot of back and forth and stuff, right?"

"Yup." Parker's grin widened. "Forget the steps. It's all about the chase." She pulled away to the length of his arms, and cocked her eyebrows at him, waiting.
