After chatting with Isabel Angel went downstairs to get some breakfast and catch up on work.

Any resemblance between him and a vampire who was trying to pretend that yesterday had never happened were entirely coincidental.

"Christmas Eve and Christmas were just me and my dad. Yesterday it started being business again." Parker shrugged, and tried to look nonchalant. "I told him I had stuff to study for."

"Then remind me to give John his present before you guys leave." Parker shook her head. "I just hope Cal is back to normal before *I* leave. Angel's way too jumpy around her to watch out for her properly."

Aeryn nods in agreement. "Whatever's wrong, I hope it's over quickly because I really don't want to leave in the middle of it," she says. "'Sorry, have to go, hope this all works out.' I'd rather not."

"Exactly. I mean, we could stay until school starts, and maybe a little beyond, but..." Parker shook her head. "Maybe we could take her back to Fandom?" she wondered. "She can't fight like this. She'd be safer there than here, with those two fighting monsters for a living."

Parker rubbed her eyes. "Yeah. Well. We'll kill that demon when it shows up." Then smiled a little. "So what do you think of L.A. so far?"

"I haven't seen much of it," she says. "A lot of cars, and that Hollywood street was... interesting." Not that interesting always means good. "Have you been here before?"

"Twice, I think? Once when I was really little, once about--" Parker counted back. "God, must be ten years ago now. Mostly we were outside L.A. anyway, visiting friends of my Mom's. You were on Hollywood?" She cocked her head, then had to ask. "Did you see the sign, too? Or the La Brea tar pits?"
