"Oh, I always wanted it." He smiles wryly. "You've always been my, ahem, hero. More or less. And that sort of answers the next one, too. Anyway, you're caring, but firm. You teach what you think is right. Not honor, like the nobles preach about, but genuine out there and do it right and wrong. Law. You know. And you know I'll eat with you, especially if you're buying. Of course I've gotten hurt. I've been a copper for years. Nothing too bad, though." He laughs at the last question. "You mean why men?" He shrugs. "It's just the way I am. I have never wanted a woman in my life."

She's been my mentor in society. I met Mortimer in the Nexus when I'd just started visiting. He'd asked a question about teaching self-defense tactics to the various orphaned kids around.
