Friday night bertana and I went to the Keswick to see Billy Bragg.

It has been a couple years since I saw him, so I forgot just how much he talked during a show. Since the man is British socialist, and we are about to have an election - he had a lot to say. For once, not all of it was bad. He complimented us on trying to elect a black man, and really

Admittedly I have only ever seen them with Jenny Lewis.

Ohhhhhhhh, THAT'S who they are! I knew there was something about them niggling at the back of my mind. I thought they had beautiful voices, but the songs were exactly as notshakespeare put it -- ultimately forgettable. Two of the people I was with were absolutely violent in their dislike, but I think what tipped them over the edge was the unfortunate "Just Like Heaven" cover. :) I'll have to go listen to their stuff with Jenny Lewis.

notshakespeare, it was good catching up with you. Thanks for introducing me to bertana, too! Come December the L.C. and I will be living within walking distance of the Keswick (barring unforeseen disaster), so I'm hoping to catch more shows there in the future -- let me know if there's anything you guys are particularly interested in.
