Oh I am a bad daughter in law.

I really cannot cope with Dave's mother coming to stay with us every fortnight. It's just one night, but suddenly my house is not my own, it throws the rest of the weekend out and on Fridays I reserve the right to sit on my sofa in cotton knickers and a vest and watch streamed espisodes of The Wire or The Walking Dead or other programmes that have ( Read more... )

Even if I had a mother in law I adored I couldn't handle visits that often. Or visits that often from anyone. Is she coming just to visit with the two of you? How far away does she live? If you go to your mother's will you avoid her visit?

She lives FOUR FUCKING MILES AWAY.

I'm going to my mums. I'm so fed up and angry. I feel like I'm being sidelined and my very real very desperate needs are being ignored because I don't whine the way Sally does.

I'm just worried that Dave doesn't take this stuff into consideration before he lets his mom come over. As much as this Sally woman is to blame, I think Dave needs to take responsibility, too. I'm sure he's a great guy, but he may be used to making assumptions about other people's comfort levels-- ie, having a mother over frequently.

And yes, gtfo for the weekend.

She's out of the 12 month mourning now, it was in April, not that it hugely matters. It's more her utter refusal to do anything to help herself in anyway possible. It's so alien to the way my mum is that I really find it confusing and irritating.

good lord, count me in on the people who could not handle that. I can't handle seeing my own folks that often, let alone them staying with us, and I LIKE them.

Why is she coming to stay a night every two weeks?

Because she is annoying. Dave's sister lives in London, it is her best friend's, Kris', birthday next weekend, which is also a long weekend. Because Sarah wants to stay in London to see her friend, Sally is now sulking and told Sarah it is not fair, because Kris has a husband and other friends, so Sarah doesn't need to go.
