Bitter If Steeped to Long, The Commentary Track

Jul 27, 2009 16:25

I've read and enjoyed remixes for a while now. Before I got into writing fanfic myself, some of the best stories I read were remixes. Thus I was thrilled when I found out that I qualified for the remix and after a short moment of panic (1000 words minimum? I can't write 1000 words minimum!), I signed up, buoyed by managing to write long stories ( ( Read more... )

When I went through my list of fics, trying to figure out what a remixer would be most likely to write, the Ozfic was my top pick. Although, I didn't have any idea what a remixer would do with it, either. :)

otherwise Spike would have gleefully told Buffy to boil the leaves with the water for half an hour and maybe to add a dash of vinegar or something.

I do far better, if I can shoehorn the story into some kind of formal structure.

Me too! Especially with short things. Hence, for example, "A Man of Many Colors."

I read a dozen recipes and finally distilled something for Spike to say.Yeah, I skipped the whole "research" part of the original fic. :) Actually, I wrote the whole thing in one sitting, as a sort of "feel-better" fic for a friend who was having a rough day and loved Buffy and Giles together. I never had any idea it'd lead to something so lovely and insightful as your remix ( ... )

Glad again you like it. It was more fun than expected, writing this commentary, and I think I'm going to do it again.

Yay for personal experience in fic.

I used to be a tea "expert" roughly 30 years ago, when it was hip among teenagers of a certain stripe here. I actually could tell a Darjeeling from an Assam, but that skill is long lost and I usually use the paper bag kind too, nowadays.

Still, finding out whether there was a specific secret/ritual/whatever to British tea did take a few hours of googling in the office.
