I already moved to Sweden, although it was for reasons of being with my love. The abortion issue here is absolutely moot and a political party banning it as part of their platform is political suicide.

How I wish the US was at that point too, hence why I stay on top of reproductive rights so that my relatives and future generations can have that eventually

Pretty easy, imo. I had applied for my visa in November of 2005. The fee was sixty dollars at the time and I just had to fill out the paper work, give them the fee, and be interviewed at the Swedish embassy in DC (I didn't live too far from DC...about eighteen miles and able to take the subway into town).

After the interview, they said it could take fourteen months for my visa to get processed and approved. However, they approved my visa in April of 2006. Two months later, my SO flew in from Sweden and helped me move there. However, at the time, I was on a provisional visa that was good for two years. Since I moved to Sweden so I can live with my SO, they said if we broke up before the two years were up, I wouldn't be able to stay there. In 2008, I got my visa renewed after interviewing with them again and became permenant. So, if we break up or he dies, I can still reside in Sweden.
