Oh how he knew that she would ask, despite him saying that she didn't need to involve herself. But wasn't that the reason he'd even mentioned it in the first place? If he really didn't want her to be concerned or involved or interested he would have made up some random thing that had nothing to do with his thoughts.

It wouldn't have been the first time he'd lied to her.

Not that he enjoyed lying to her.

"I came across a wizard in Canterbury not too long ago. I can't place the face, but there was something absurdly familiar." Amycus rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand. Thoughts about it made him somewhat tense. He hated not knowing. "Just one of those things that niggle your mind."

She gave a knowing little nod of her head, listening to him. "Hm, well can you think of where you know him from? Maybe not specifically but generally? I mean he's not one of us, right?" they knew everyone who was a Death Eater, or at least she was sure that they did.

Putting her head down on his shoulder, she patted his hand again. "I'm sure you'll figure it out sooner then later, my dear. If anyone can figure it out, it's you.." she gave him an encouraging smile.

"Oh no no no," Amycus chuckled. "Definitely not one of us. I'd know if he was one of us."

As they entered the dining room of the house, Amycus noted that Plippy had spared no expense. The table was laden with various tureens of food. Little thought went to the fact that most of it would be tossed out at the end of the day and why would it. He had no sense of charity and wasn't about to donate it.

Releasing Alecto's arm, he pulled out a chair for her. "I find these little holidays to be most tedious, aside from the fact that I am permitted to spoil you."

For a moment she'd forgotten exactly what he was talking about, other then the fact that it was obviously something special. And then she remembered. It was Valentine's Day. She seemed a bit wide eyed at the expansive set up for dinner and turned to him, actually smiling quite brightly for once.

She leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "It's lovely, thank you. You do spoil me. Which is good, since I like to be spoiled," she told him, sitting down in the chair. "It's wonderful."

"Well someone has to spoil you as you deserve to be spoiled since our dear parents departed this earth. What better person to take care of you than your older brother?"

Amycus watched as she tucked hair behind her ear, the spot just below her temple. Oh he'd seen that temple many times. Not that she ever knew. Always a little something extra for his special collection.

So as not to appear distracted, Amycus reached into the inside pocket of his robes and pulled out a parcel wrapped in silver paper. Inside was a very extravagant pearl necklace that he'd had made for her. Something that reminded him of a necklace long gone from his mother and the family's possession.

He waited for her to open it before he would take his seat.
