Life is so normal and common and usual and boring and natural and regular and typical and routine and commonplace and conventional and not special at all. Except apparently your life has been opposite day forever. Duh. ( Read more... )
Yuugi was so happy when the two accepted eachother, really when it came down to it they were like twins, and sometimes Yuugi even treated them as such. When they weren't fighting, they were adorable and really a pleasure to watch when they interacted.
All in all he didn't mind there being two of them, they were both sweet and wonderful in their own way as well as his family.
When they fought over their name however Yuugi would always try to mediate it was hard to get them to calm but he did his best.
Today it seemed they wanted to play with him. Play what? Yuugi couldn't really think of anything he could do that would be remotely interesting at the moment, considering he was trying to finish up laundry at the time.
"Well, what do you want to play?" He was down to folding his last few items.
"I don't want to play anything with him." The Pharaoh spoke, crossing his arms over his chest. It seemed he was in a little bit of a bad mood today. "He cheats."
Atem's eyes narrowed as his hip shifted to the left, hand propped on it so quickly. "You'd accuse me of such a thing?"
It seemed perhaps today was one of the days that they were going to fight. Boredom did not become them.
"Hey hey!" Yuugi pouted. "Come on now, lets not fight. We're all family right?" The smallest sighed. "I don't want to play with you if you're fighting. That makes it harder to enjoy ourselves right?"
Sometimes he felt he were talking to children who were younger then him. He loved them both, he really did. But wow don't argue, it makes him irritated.
Atem was immediately sporting a decidedly more guilty look than the Pharaoh was at that. He'd always be the closer one to Yuugi, whether or not the Pharaoh would let him get that title or not.
"We don't have to play anything." Atem offered.
The Pharaoh shifted uncomfortably. "I don't think our intention was to come here and try to find a three player game." It would end in a disaster and both knew it. Both were too competitive. When other people were involved it rarely ever ended up being fun.

It hadn't been an easy few years, getting used to having two Atems in the house, (boy was that hard to explain to the neighbors, only going by the excuse that she was looking after twin brothers and not two versions of the same man), but things had settled down at least. That was comforting to know.
Though there was still a problem of how she called the two by name. They were both named Atem and refused to be called otherwise. Most of the time, she just pointed to one and call him 'you'. She certainly couldn't call them Atem 1 and Atem 2. She could easily get the numbers confused then and be back at square one.
Sighing, she put her pen back to her paper trying to work on a thesis statement for a paper, but could only think of the two Atems under her roof.

The two of them knew they were supposed to be quiet and not cause trouble. Ryou had been very busy as of late what with whatever she was doing in school. It didn't make it easy that sometimes her house could be so boring. The Pharaoh was perhaps a little more dignified than his other and had taken to sitting on the floor to read some book about Egyptian history. Every now and again he'd snort at incorrect statements.
Atem had been trying quietly to find something else to do. When nothing revealed itself to be of good use, he retired to the room his past self and Ryou were hanging about it and sat down next to the Pharaoh. All too suddenly nudging began.

She paused with her pen still on the page, holding back a sigh. She had thought that today they would at least stop the petty bickering. Honestly, they were worst than children.
Though she did have inklings of her and her younger sister doing the same thing when they were small. Always bickering with each other, pretty much to the effect of getting their mother's attention.
Without looking up, she could still scold both of them for not behaving.
"Sit further apart, both of you. Or one take the floor and the other the couch."
I SAID BADnote_atemSeptember 26 2011, 00:40:22 UTC
The two of them weren't exactly sure when they started taking orders from Ryou. Certainly the Pharaoh had more of a problem with it considering the ... nearly uncanny resemblance to a certain Thief. Even if it had been explained to him over and over there was a deep part of him that had trouble letting go of things.
And being ordered around ... well that was another issue entirely.
As it was, both either seemed to ignore Ryou or not hear her as they continued. "I said move."
"I don't feel like it." This was more than petty bickering, as usual it was a show of dominance. And one would not move and be inferior towards the other.
Good thing those two Atems have calmed down a bit over the last year or so. Having to deal with the two bugging him was definitely more tolerable than having to deal with them constantly fighting over him. Now he had more time to work on his homework or whatever teenagers do these days.
Yugi wasn't even aware that they were in the room until he felt two pairs of arms around him. "Mou hitori no boku!" At least when he used that nickname, they didn't fight over it... too much. "I'm trying to work!"
The two of them could be very sneaky when they felt like it. Or they could be great big nuisances to everyone around them. Today it seemed to be the former. How fortuitous.
"On what?" Atem asked, peering over the smaller's shoulder.
"Something important?" The Pharaoh chimed in only a second later.
"You know. Homework." That he decided to work on immediately instead of putting it off until the night before, like he usually did. He really needed to stop doing that. Card games weren't that important in a world where it was opposite day everyday.
He forced a smile as Atem looked over his shoulder. "So I can't play tonight. Sorry, guys." Unless he was forced to~
"Mm." The Pharaoh mused right next to Yugi's ear as he peered down at the paper. "This is important for your schooling." He shouldn't really have been interrupting the younger with his learning. How would he get anywhere in life if he wasn't taught properly?
Atem just rolled his eyes. "Is this due tomorrow?" The pair would be persistent until they were completely told off, as usual.
Usually the two men tried to make it an issue not to bother Lelouch when he was busy. Some days that was harder than others, especially if he'd been away for too long a time. To say that either was clingy would be a rejected idea, no matter how true it was. Still, they respected the boundaries set forth by the other. ...most of the time.
For just that moment they seemed to be in an amicable peace. While not set on bothering Lelouch, they were content enough for now to just soak up his presence. The pair were draped over the couch, lying one next to the other and reading some book on the history of the world or something as equally boring.
The fact was that they weren't really reading. Every now and again both pairs of crimson eyes would tilt up and watch Lelouch, in an almost feline manner, before dropping back to the book and pretending they hadn't been doing anything at all. It seemed they might have been getting a touch restless.
The Pharaoh kept the gaze, acknowledging when he'd been caught. He smiled lightly, even, untangling himself from Atem and standing. After pulling the wrinkles from his clothing he started a slow, and as usual dignified, walk over.
"Whatever you're working on I could probably help. I have ruled a kingdom, after all."
Atem wouldn't take that sitting down and stood soon after. Though he wasn't going to seem as desperate as his other self was. He stayed in his place. "He didn't ask for your help. He doesn't need it."
It had been hard enough getting used to one Atem around, even though it had been his own obsession attraction that had gotten them close in the first place. The tendency not to trust and not to let anyone close was just too ingrained in him to completely ignore. Over time, his tendency to close himself off or lash out was very slowly fading. But now, with a second Atem, one who seemed to exist solely to push the Egyptian bullshit on him, Kaiba was anxious and withdrawn
( ... )
The Pharaoh was still new to all of this- to accepting the fact that some future part of him had fallen in love with a reincarnation of his Priest. A poorly made reincarnation that most of the time seemed to want to have nothing to do with him. Yet somehow that was better. Someone who didn't recognize his crown and instead challenged him as a person. That was why Kaiba was so alluring in the first place. But it was still new, still fresh. And not seeing someone he barely knew for a month hardly really hindered him at all
( ... )
"Your presence always offends me," Kaiba replied as he glanced at the Pharaoh, though his exhaustion kept the bite out of his voice. "Any less clothing and they'll start saying I keep harem boys wearing bed sheets in here. I left you a fund for clothes. Use it, before I use it for you."
With that, he slipped past them to sit down at his desk. Better to show his hurry than to collapse right in front of them.
"If you're asking me to dress like him, I'm not about to." The Pharaoh replied, though was doing markedly well with also keeping the aggression out of his tone for now. His eyes did move to Atem's form, however. And when he realized his future self wasn't looking at him, and instead watching Kaiba carefully, something about it hit him in exactly the wrong spot.
Atem knew all the telltale signs of Kaiba's exhaustion by now. But he didn't think he should bring it up in company -... was that the way it was always going to be now? Nothing would be private between them anymore?
Did Kaiba even like him anymore with that vision of old always hanging around?
"There's nothing wrong with the way I dress." He said finally, after a damning lapse of silence.
