[open] Forward dated birfday party.

May 29, 2011 16:35

Birthdays weren't important to him anymore, or at least that's what he always claimed. After all, living through three thousand and more of them probably left a little to the imagination anymore. He didn't care. Nope. Not at all. But you know, it's also Yuugi's birthday, too, so he was very happy to give that much more attention than his own. ( Read more... )

Some people might have thought birthdays were important, but Kaiba Seto was not one of them. Little brothers walking into a den of possibly inebriated idiots, however, were. Mokuba had gotten his invitation in the mail and had insisted on going. Kaiba had tried everything to bribe him out of it, up to and including cookies before dinner, but nothing had worked ( ... )

"What is there to be relieved for?" The question, Kaiba's and his own, didn't sound like they made sense to him. He shook his head however and moved on, not really caring in the slightest. He just continued to sit back against the wall, enjoying the cool of the air on his slightly flushed skin. The piece of cake had been long since set down by his side and ignored, it seemed.

Slowly he lifted his eyes to the other man. "You could just leave, you know. You could have a driver take Mokuba home." He knew Seto didn't do social parties, not with his friends, only corporate things. Seeing him here, while nice, was slightly confusing.

"The lack of idiots babbling about nonsense, for one thing," Kaiba replied quietly. He shifted to lean against the side of the building, his arms crossing over his chest.

"That, along with the presence of your drink, keeps me here. I would have left already if it was possible," he added, once another hint of the alcohol reached his nose. If Atem had it, it had to be easily accessible somewhere in the area. That alone was risk enough for Mokuba.

Atem's eyes raised to watch him for a long moment, accidental- slightly, time not really feeling like much as he forgot to watch it. Eventually his eyes lowered, looking out across the way instead.

"When are you planning on leaving?" His words were careful and calm, making sure he didn't trip over them as the world shook on its axis slightly.

Yuugi wasn't used to someone throwing him a party as big as this one. Then again, he usually liked more intimate gatherings instead of full parties, but to see so many people show up! The look of surprise on Yuugi's face when he walked in and found everyone there, waiting for him, would... probably be all over the internet tomorrow.

Of course he still had to provide damage control when Honda and Jounouchi hit the alcohol and decided to go 'shot for shot', which Yuugi protested was a very bad idea. Even if he had some himself, mostly because Ji-chan bought him a bottle of sake, even if normally he didn't drink so it didn't take much to get him flushed in the face ( ... )

He immediately felt a pang of guilt when he realized that Yuugi had probably been looking for him. That was bad of him, wasn't it? To make his partner worry like that. He had perhaps thought his absence wouldn't have been noticed, and he did want Yuugi to have as much fun as possible.

There was a slow nod, as much as he would have liked for it to be quick, to the question. "Are you?" And a slightly faster return in it.

Well, he already beat Jounouchi a few times at the new game he got, maybe he'd let Honda have a go for a bit. Jou would enjoy winning against him, at least. Yugi wanted to go find that other self of his anyway, it wouldn't be a party without the other duelgoth birthday boy there.

At least it didn't take too long to find a certain Pharaoh. His shoes were gone and the light was on by the back door. Yugi went outside after noticing that familiar spiky hair outside and sat next to his partner.

"You're not having fun." Yugi sat next to his partner, trying to hold a smile. He could tell Atem was drunk and that upset him a little. Was the party that terrible? Did he do something wrong? Why would Atem rather be outside, all alone?

But he decided against asking about the alcohol. "Why are you out here, mou hitori no boku?" There were plenty of fun things to do inside. He could at least fanboy over the new cards they got or something...

His frown was slightly exaggerated, much more than his usual expression. It had a lot to do with the loose feeling he couldn't get rid of, but that was his own fault for not watching his consumption. Or was he mentally trying to already pass the blame for his state? Terrible. Just awful.

Upsetting Yugi was a sin, however, and he'd done it so easily. "I just needed some air." His words were careful and slow as he tried not to show off just how much he'd consumed in the past few hours.

Yugi wanted to believe him... but it was hard. He was so concerned. What if something happened to Atem and Yugi didn't know until it was too late? Guilt forever. hdu atem you are the worst mou hitori no boku everrrr

"...Are you sure?" Then again, he didn't want to upset the other. Maybe he'd just change the subject, unless Atem interrupted him first. "...There's still..."

He shifted closer, a very sporadic and shaky move. The thought of upsetting Yugi the day of his birthday really stung and he didn't like it at all. His hand fell to lay on top of the other's.

"I'm sure. Really." Trying to sound sincere through the slight drunken slur he was carrying as he looked at the other.

Yuugi had come looking for the other sometime after the party ended. He had dismissed everyone at a reasonable hour and thanked them for coming. There was one more person he needed to thank, and that was his Mou Hitori no Boku for throwing the party itself. It had been a lot of fun!

But where did he go?

Yuugi made his way around the back and found him by himself, frowning he moved over to him when he was spoken too.

"What do you mean 'what's wrong'? I was wondering where you had disappeared to. Didn't you have fun Atem?" he asked, taking a placed beside him. "I wanted to thank you for all of the effort you put into making this day wonderful for me. I really did enjoy it."
