Birthdays weren't important to him anymore, or at least that's what he always claimed. After all, living through three thousand and more of them probably left a little to the imagination anymore. He didn't care. Nope. Not at all. But you know, it's also Yuugi's birthday, too, so he was very happy to give that much more attention than his own. Probably not many other people knew what his birthday even was. You did, though.
Yuugi's party was amazing. Atem had at least tried his hardest to throw the younger a good one. Birthdays may not have been important to him, but to everyone else they still were. The party moved from afternoon to night almost seamlessly. Eventually things started dying down, people became quieter and started huddling in groups in corners of the room. Atem seemed nowhere to be found.
Going out on the backstep of the place the party was being held would reveal him to be sitting down, leaning against the wall, gingerly sipping- ...alcohol? There was a half-eaten piece of cake nearby, some contents of the frosting smudged on the corner of his lip.
As you approach closer he finally notices you, lifting his gaze. Oh yes. There was a sheen of intoxication that was hard not to notice.
"What's wrong?" Though he tried to keep his voice level to hide that he'd probably been drinking all night long. You knew though that sometimes he forgot to watch his drinks, easy for him to become inebriated with his size and tolerance.
