LJ Idol - Week 31b: The Place That Can Not Be

Monday Afternoon:The house was empty when I returned from work. I left the back door partially open as I made my way through the house. Passing the kitchen and moving through the cat litter room, I carefully watched my step. Because you just never know. I elbowed my way around the ever-changing ( Read more... )

It's the damn real estate brokers! They do it every time!

I somehow would prefer Ash Tree Lane.

Ash Tree Lane had an awesome labyrinth inside. That automatically makes it cooler than just about anything else in the ever.

I really need to re-read that soon...

It is seriously one of my favorite books. So heartbreaking and haunting and magical.

Thanks! :)

I love that book. It's one of the only books that actually gave me legitimate nightmares. I need to make time to read it again soon.

I had to stop reading that book halfway through and get some distance from the story or I never could have finished. Reading it at my parent's which was built in 1910 with all of it's rattles and squeaks didn't help.

I really liked the way this built and twisted.

Thanks!

The book really was intense in a way that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe part of it was because I'd never read anything quite like it before, but the first time it sucked me in and I devoured it.

The density of it has kept me from re-reading it so far, which is a damned shame!

Was there a direct reference to the book that I missed and everyone else saw? I'm surprised how many of the comments refer to it (never by name, which I also find interesting). I totally see the influence, but if you hadn't mentioned it to me, it might have slipped right by in a haze of creepy as hell.

You do realize in your two posts you managed to break Hunter and then write him right out of existence. Nice job there ass dad. ;)
