Nyarlathotep

I love H.P. Lovecraft! He grew up and lived near me. I constantly find myself driving by the house he based 'The Shunned House' on because I love shit like that, and that whole area where he lived is pretty well preserved. I think it's supposed to be one of the most haunted streets in America.

I've visited a couple times. If I were to relocate, I would seriously consider Providence. It's just so damned pretty and I would love to be so close to the ocean again.

I read a huge amount of HP Lovecraft last year, his prose is so distinctive.

He takes some flak for overdoing it (rightly so, sometimes) but you're right, it's a very distinctive voice. It just charms the hell out of me, sometimes.

Thanks for sharing a favorite of mine. I have no idea how I could of survived college without Lovecraft. He gave me a passion, a drive to write, he gave me everything.

It's a nice one for sharing because it's so short and crisp. Distilled down to what makes him wonderful.

This one's been rolling around in my head for a long time now. I had some half-formed commentary I wanted to make on/with it, but I finally decided to just post it and call it good since nothing was happening.
