No, it was--that was me being bitter. Have you ever read Fahrenheit 451? My inmate was Captain Beatty. He burned books. He only ever actually tried burning the library once, but then gave himself a fake bout of amnesia just to mess with me. But now he's gone, so--no more book burning.

Yeah. I'm... pretty pissed, actually. I just found out, and then he vanished. He said he did it because he was bored and because I believed him, and then he confessed because he was bored and he wanted me to find out on his terms. I am honestly just so mad, Una.

God, what a spiteful old bastard. I don't blame you for being angry.

Of course, this now calls into question much of what O'Brien may or may not have known, considering their closeness.

My thoughts exactly. I feel like the last six months have been a complete waste. I know it's not entirely true, but...
