After being cooped up for far too long Tom is outside quite literally poking around.  He doesn't really have a plan or a destination in mind, he's just content to be out of the mansion and exploring.  He walks along, humming a tuneless song, walking on top of logs if they happen to come in his path, and looking for animals that might warrant

Cimorene is taking a walk, still not really sure what she wants to do with herself now that she's accepted she's not leaving the Mansion any time soon. His humming and leaping draws her attention, and she raises an eyebrow at it, bemused.

Of course, if she can see him, he can probably see her as well. If he cares to pay attention to tall, black-haired princesses being amused by his antics.

Tom thought. "Well, I'm farily sure there are ladies who don't need to know ettiquette and such and who are much better off with cooking. But, I don't see why a lady should need to know how to fence."

"Why should I need to know how to embroider? Fencing is much more interesting. Do you fence, sir Jones?"

"I know quite a few ladies who don't embroider and instead follow a trade or farm. And yes. I do fence." Quite well, he added in his head.

"Princesses aren't allowed, traditionally, to follow trades either. Just as improper as fencing. But if you ever want a partner, I'm rusty. I used to be quite good, but Daddy found out and forbade the armorer from teaching me."

"I'd be delighted to, miss. I've heard that in France they teach some of their noblewomen to fence and that they become very accomplished. Maybe you're the princess of the wrong country?"

"Possible, though given the other princesses that I've met, I doubt it." She sighed. "Then again, I've never heard of France, so maybe I just needed to go farther afield."

"Where are you from, then?"

[dragon_dealer]

"Linderwall, originally, though I haven't lived there for several years."

"Is that in Europe? I've never heard of it."

[dragon_dealer]

"As I've never heard of Europe, unlikely. It's near the Mountains of Morning, but given my experience so far, I don't expect that to help."

Tom shook his head. "My geography was never very good, but I haeven't heard of the Mountains of Morning. I'm from England. It's an island."

Cimorene, at random, picked another place someone had mentioned to her. "Is it near Wales?"

"So you have heard of it! Wales is part of England."

[dragon_dealer]

"Only since I came here. It's where Percy is from. The man I'm making cherries jubilee for."

"Oh,"Tom said, disappointed. "Who is Percy? I don't think I've met him."
