She’s lying so still, with a tube down her throat, machines breathing for her.
Helpless, lifeless.
Tears threaten to surface, but Jack doesn’t allow himself to cry.
Two shots from a zat gun.
He did this to her. He killed her.
But what good did it do?
The base-maybe even the planet is saved.
But none of that matters, because he’s lost the one person that does matter.
His heart feels like it’s being crushed in his chest.
Time is against them. It always has been.
