"Dude, they've got you in a house," Joker said, making a face as he hobbled past Kaidan. "That's just weird. How do you function with windows that can be opened?"

"I don't open them and I let one of my housemates do the cooking," Kaidan said. "It's almost like the Normandy... except in all the ways it isn't."

He shut the door behind him. "Living room's to the left."

"Thanks, man," Joker answered, readjusting himself and heading that way. "Man, what is with all the stairs around here? That's an insane amount of cardio every day, Kaidan, even for you."

"I kind of like it," Kaidan said, following right after him. "I don't exactly see a lot of action around here."

The full moon started tomorrow, and Jack was already starting to feel like he was itching inside his skin. Not that it was so bad; it just meant he'd have a little extra energy to burn off if Emma followed through on her threats to visit, and that it was probably not the day when he should decide to start participating in online political forums if he didn't want to destroy his laptop.

He paused just inside the doorway, scenting the visitor. (Though, even without werewolf senses, the bed in the living room would have been a pretty good clue.)

"Someone's here," he called. "Hello."

"Hey, Jack," Kaidan called back. "My old colleague Joker is crashing here for the weekend."
