A MEME

Memes Eat Boredom, y/y? I nicked it from th_esaurus:

Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I ( Read more... )

The Doctor finished gluing the gears onto the TARDIS and stood back happily. "There, now it's steampunk. I bet that gets the chicks hot."

Donna sighed. He had been reading way too much steamfashion. She regretted making him sign up for a LiveJournal even if it had managed to decrease the whining she put up with. (Sure she had him friended, but that was why the mouse had a scroll wheel in the middle ( ... )

Okay, I so have to play! This is awesome fun!

"Where are we going?"
"We have to lock ourselves in separate rooms and wait it out."
"How long will that be?"
"About... two days?" It really did sound like a crap plan now that he explained it out loud.
"Days?! What if we just... you know? How long then?"
"Couple of hours." He could see where this was leading, and it was both exciting and terrifying.
"And I can't just sort if out on my own? You know..." Donna pointed down and gestured rather explicitly.
"No. Which is weird, isn't it? You'd think-"
Donna held up a hand. "Hold it, sunshine. I can either shag you for two hours or spend the next few days tearing off the wallpaper with my teeth?"
He groaned. "Please don't use logic."
"Shag it is, then," she said, pulling him into her bedroom.

I simply want an insight into your thoughts as you typed this - and how big your grin was...

This is from my now lost and never finished Very Very Serious sex pollen fic with these two, where I felt the Doctor would indeed lock himself away in case he took advantage of a companion while under the influence. Only here it is in a comedy.

Ha ha that last line is so me! I mock myself!

He wants the Donna!sex but is also scared of it because he is always such a tease re: actual sex. Admitting he wants it frightens him in the face.

Thank you so much for your insightful comments! I do wish we had a chance to read the original story as I'm sure it would have been a lot of fun! That said, though, the whole idea does work brilliantly as a comedy! Particularly the whole problem of logic, especially in moments of high tension like that one. ;-)

2.
Getting back her original universe turned out to be more dangerous than she'd anticipated.

3.
A lot more dangerous.

4.
Quite significantly so.

Oh is that the dead Romana thing? Erm, I can't remember other than that her death was amusing to me.

Donna/River, yay!

"There you are," said River, coming into the library. Donna looked up from her book and then set it to one side to be polite. This was going to be A Discussion, wasn't it?

"I talked to the Doctor," said River, "I'm sorry if I came on a bit strong." She hovered by the sofa as though about to sit next to Donna, then moved to sit in the armchair facing her.

"It's not you," said Donna, feeling the need to apologise herself in some way, "it's just that I don't go for women."

"Never?"

"Nope."

"Even in fantasises?"

"I don't even know you," said Donna, trying to end that line of conversation.

River sat back in the armchair and waved a hand. "That makes it easier to talk to me about it."

"No," Donna said through slightly gritted teeth, "I've never even thought about it."

"Shame," said River. "Look, it's not just him, he would think it's him, but it isn't. I like you, you're very pretty."

Oooh, tension! River is good at reading people, I think. She would have to be to have shagged all the Doctors.

"It's not you," said Donna, feeling the need to apologise herself in some way, "it's just that I don't go for women."

This I think is probably true. Or at least she's got this far in life without having sex with one so she is quite sure she's hetero.

"Never?"

"Nope."

"Even in fantasises?"

I think River is not just being porny I think she is trying to open Donna's mind to the possibilities of femslash and/or threesomes.

River sat back in the armchair and waved a hand. "That makes it ( ... )

Thanks!

That might be a lie, I don't know.

Noo! That's my favourite bit, don't tell me it's a lie! I think the Doctor is SO full of it for thinking it's all about him, and I really liked that River had her own mind about it. (I don't mind yenta!River, though, as long as she gets to shag the Doctor too.)

I like to think that River yentas on behalf of herself, such as setting up threesomes so she can fuck everyone. And the Doctor so thinks it's about him because he's a wanker.

---She disentangled herself carefully and let him fall back against the pillows, before turning onto her back and staring up at the ceiling. Bloody hell.

She knew he hadn't wanted what had happened to them, but had he wanted her?

"You don't usually... I mean, we've been in bed together loads of times and your... Timelordhood didn't make an appearance."

"Timelordhood?" He giggled.

"You want to have drunken sex with someone, don't you?"

"How about it?" he asked, propping himself up on one elbow.

"What about River?" she tried, hoping to distract him from his sudden interest in her.

"Your breasts are nicer than hers."

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, that's me seduced."

(I guess mostly I'm fascinated in how you came up with the idea of putting sex pollen into this story, and what purpose it serves, and if you toyed with them being mutually affected, or things going further while he was under the influence, or if it was a way for Donna to rebuild trust in him...?)

Lols Timelordhood! That fandom euphemism is hilarious to me in its badness!

I have a thing in fic lately where Donna tries to send him to shag River so she doesn't have to deal with his randy ways.

"Your breasts are nicer than hers."

This is factual.

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, that's me seduced."

She is so resistant to his charms!

"...realises that she is not entirely powerless in the relationship."

Brilliant. Just brilliant. Thanks so much for this. I think the power dynamic is utterly fascinating, esp. in the DW world, were the male character is set up to automatically have the power and authority, and his women fall into that with him, right up until Donna's first trip with him and "Donna. Human. No!"

I think that is when I really fell hard for this show.
