That scene where being based on logic somehow causes the Movellans to always come up with the same move in "Rock, Scissors, Paper" is another one of those "So, Terry Nation did not understand science at all" ones, like every time he mentions evolution in anything.
You can handwave the Spiridon stuff a bit by suggesting that the Thal's use of the word "allotrope" is mistranslated and that there's actually some chemical widespread in the Spiridon environment that forms a mixture with water that stays a viscous liquid at low-temperature. But the only way you can explain the evolution stuff in Genesis of the Daleks is by simply declaring Davros a deluded megalomaniac who merely thinks he can predict the course of evolution because he's got delusions of grandeur.
Yes, but in Davros's case that seems like a reasonable sort of declaration... :D
The thing that really makes me scratch my head about Destiny is all the stuff about logic and the Daleks being "robots", when the Daleks actually strike me as hysterical, barely-rational emotional wrecks who never have a thought they don't feel compelled to scream aloud, while living in a constant state of hatred, anxiety and fear. But that's just my take on them.
Actually, the bit where Romana kicks the _shite_ out of the Movellan commander is probably my favourite part of that one. Except she probably should have made some Bond-like quip about "disarming" him, or something...
