Yis, I know about the incest. And the first time I saw Edge of Darkness it was just me and me dad and it was slightly uncomfortable...
Yeah, the Prisoner is deliberately confusing, and also very deliberately doesn't answer a lot of questions (like you never know the main character's name, what the job he resigned from was, or any reason that powerful people might be interested in). It's awesome, but not easy watching. And some people really really hate the last episode where it goes totally, completely weird.
THEY DON'T EVEN LET IAN MCKELLEN BE UNREMMITINGLY AND DELIGHTFULLY EVIL? WHAT THE SHIT?
Seriously, there goes my only reason for watching this. As if replacing the idea of Christopher Eccleston as Number 6 with freaking Jim Caviezel wasn't bad enough.
...I think I posted this comment in the wrong thread. Crap. I was talking about the link above about the Prisoner remake, where McKellen is playing Number 2.
... you know, I've just realized that (as a person who has yet to see it) I've been totally confused about what Edge Of Darkness was about for, like, years. I mean, yeah, I knew about the incest thing from reading you and Vali writing about it, but somewhere along the line I'd got it into my head that the actual plot was about post-nuclear survival. Which it obviously isn't. Huh.
It is about this man and his daughter is shot and he investigates and it all turns into conspiracy with ecoterrorists and the CIA and nuclear stuffs and it is AMAZIN.
Yar it has many nuclears in it. That is the cause of many of the best bits, even. All people should watch it. It is maybe a bit slow by today's standards but there is always stuff happening so it doesn't seem epically long.

IO9 have a bit on why the new Prisoner sucks like a sucky thing:

Common to both of them: waiting until main dude dead before raping the corpse of good telly.

I don't know if they are keeping the incest or if the trailer is just unintentionally creepy if you know about that bit.

1985 was a long time ago, tho. Mebbe the Bond dude thinks no-one will notice it's a remake?
