As earlier mentioned I've been using a fitbit recently. So I took it on the trip. Two fun facts:

To visit my dysfunctional family. No new disasters, just ongoing interpersonal issues. I'll be there for my mom's next neurology appointment, so that's nice. I'm half vaccinated. So it's Arisia weekend. I usually go. I had a free membership, because I worked enough hours last year, so I thought I would stop in at the online thing. I'm glad I didn't have to pay. So I went to California. My mother is doing okay, but not great. Interpersonal relationships are a disaster. People who don't want to take charity are a problem. I could provide money for things, but my stepfather just says "but we can't afford that", ignoring the "here is some money to let you afford that" part. It looks like my mother is being stable, and my stepsister is putting up with the housing situation, so I'm just going out there to visit for her birthday. They did manage to get her a senior ID at the DMV, and voter registration came with it.

In order to avoid an argument about whether my mother could have a drivers license, we didn't get her a senior ID when her license expired last fall. Then, Covid. So things are not all rosy in California. My mother is not liking the assisted living facility, and there are definitely some problems, and my stepfather is upset that she's having a bad time, and feels guilty that he left her there.
