I Love Comic Books.

I have collected comic books since I was six years old.  I have had ups and downs with them before. I have been pretty mad at the companies, the writers before as well ( price increases, character rape, cancellations, abuse of a writer, abuse by a writer, etc etc) Now another crisis in my fandom. The attack on S_D, which shook me. To me a community ( Read more... )

Well said.

(And thanks for posting scans from Haunted Tank; if you hadn't I would never have picked it up and that's terrible)

I'm jealous! My comics are much less organized, and many are still at my parents house while I occupy a small apartment. The Old X-men is way cool!

I understand. Before I got my place a good 85% of my stuff was headquartered at the 'rent's house.

I love posts like this. Isn't it great how we can feel such passion about comic books? My life would be a bit emptier without them (I'm 26, by the way). You can fit, what, 150-200 comics in a long box?

"150-200 comics in a long box?" That sounds about right. I bag and board front and back to save space. I have 19 longboxes so -very rough math- I figure I have between 3000 and 4000 comics. Jesus! Sometime I need to do an accurate inventory "perhaps a spring project...."

Yeah, same here. I keep saying my collection is worth over $10,000. I had an idea for these Excel spreadsheets and then to try and fill in the gaps of any runs that I was missing, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

motto, with a slight difference: I'm one of those rarities, a female comic fan. I've been buying my own comics for 27 years (after being indoctrinated by my older brother's collection). S_D helped expose me to newer comics, break me out of company-induced ruts, and reconnect me with the comic fanbase since I stopped working in the industry (distributors, LCSs). I do understand the concerns of the publishers/creators (no one wants to wake up and learn they own a music company!), but its up to us to find a happy medium btw promoting comics and piracy.
