1. Hey, look! ds_workshop is back, and I made a whole post about the RCMP. Guys, I want to be a Mountie. Except they make you do stuff like run laps and drive fast and arrest people. But the hats! I think the hats would make up for that whole "apparatus of state power" thing, and the forced exercise. Maybe ( Read more... )

Your RCMP post was very cool and informative.

Oh, and today I talked with an Indian guy who's now at the University of Western Ontario (that must be pretty close to you, right?), and I had to stop myself from saying really stupid things like "Oooh, have you ever seen a Mountie?".

Heh, chances are, if he's at Western, he's seen one or two :-) (And that's in London, Ontario, which is about three hours west of where I am. I think. I'm still pretty shaky on Ontario geography.

It took me at least three hours to get from Stratford to your house, and Stratford's about forty-five minutes or so west-ish of London, so I bet you're close. I'm nonexistent about Ontario geography, but I'm good at driving-hours. *g*

Very, very few Mounties in this area of Ontario. I'm from within a half hour of London, and I've never met a Mountie in my life. Woe.

I LOVE your content-free commenting! Keep it up! *waves pom-poms*

And, really? <3 is the only reasonable response to "Bowling!" (Heh, I typed "blowing" there at first. Pay no attention!)

#5 would be like that elusive film that has never been made, My Favorite Canadian Movie Evar. Doooo eeet. :))

I've been obsessed with AUs all week because I've been going to movie revivals a lot lately. I saw It Happened One Night on Wednesday and tonight and/or tomorrow I am going to see Casablanca. All through It Happened One Night, I kept deciding I wanted Fraser to be kissed like a 30s movie heroine. And there to be starcrossed lovers. My other movie choice for tonight is to go see a silent film from 1928 about World War I. I bet that would be really cool, but I doubt my friend (and, ahem, ride to the theater) will want to do that when we could go see something a little easier, and not have to park downtown and walk 6 blocks in the cold. I am skipping a cello concert to go to the movies, so I have no moral high ground, you know?

Oooh, Fraser being kissed like a 1930s movie heroine! I love it! And I hope you and your friend/ride made a good choice and liked the movie. I think it's perfectly acceptable to skip a cello concert in favour of celluloide every so often. You're very moral!

I think the Bowling story would be cute... and what'ya mean you don't know humor? Just the fact that you came up with that plot bunny proves otherwise.

And the Sarah Silverman thing... I suppose it would be better if I knew all the back story about Kimmel... but I find that guy annoying as fuck and wish that someone would take him into the woods and disembowel him with a wooden cooking spoon... other than that, pretty funny.

Heh, yes, I HATE Jimmy Kimmel so very much. He's a total asshat. But aside from the Kimmel-taint, I did like that vid. I've got that chorus stuck in my head now. ("In the tub, on the floor, on a towel by the door...")

I just learned last night that once upon a time my stepdad applied to the RCMP. The told him he didn't have the right kind of personality. :P

That MacBook Air . . . why am I convinced the thing would break inside a week? Meh.

The snow is outstanding today. At least it's not wicked cold?

Awww, poor stepdad! Rejected! (I'm fairly sure I would be, too. You've seen me: easily distracted, no gift for systemic analysis, I think forensic science is witchcraft...) And that personality testing thing is a little suspicious anyway. Hrrmph.

The MacBook Air will outlive us all!

And yes, today/yesterday was a very good day for snow.
