Clearly, North should not be allowed to become bored.

Well...this was originally intended to be a tribute to the US release of Megaman Starforce (JPN: Ryuusei no Rockman/Rockman of the Shooting Star) 3 back on June 30th. I adored the Starforce franchise because the characters develop beautifully over the course of the game, especally the main character, who changes slowly from an emo who isolates himself from the rest of the world to a hero who wants to protect everyone he can, and who treasures the bonds with others above all others. However, our scanner was down since the father was renovating the office room, and we only got back use of it recently, so I couldn't put up my fanart. So, I was watching YouTube walkthroughs of all three games and I got the idea to do a Ryuusei no Rockman/ YGO 5D's crossover-for the following reasons:

1) Both the Megaman/Rockman and YGO franchise focus around DA POWA OF FRIENDSHIP. The Ryuusei no Rockman/Megaman Starforce franchise particularly focuses around the power of BONDS. Sound familiar, anyone?

2) The main character, Hoshikawa Subaru (Geo Stelar, in English) is a raging emo at the beginning of the game. Even after changing into a friendlier person, he still has a rather serious bent, and is rather level-headed and mature for his age. He also has a love for tinkering with electronics (which War-Rock/Omega-Xis, his electromagnetic companion, loves to complain about). Subaru tends to grow on people, soon gaining their respect and/or affection, whether they want to give it to him or not.

3) Both Subaru's and Yuu's fathers both rhapsodize about the power of bonds, and actually name their sons based on their choice. In the English version, his father, Kelvin, names him Geo because he wants his son to cherish love and friendship, and so he'll name his son after the planet Earth, which has both in limitless abundance. I don't know how it works in the Japanese version, since Subaru is the Japanese name for the constellation known as the Pleiades (can't spell it, lol), but it probably heads in the same direction. They both happen to be "dead", although it's later revealed that Kelvin Stelar was simply turned into an EM wave that wanders space, and returns in the end of the third game.

4)

Look familiar, anyone?

That's actually Jack Corvus, one of the bosses in RnR3. He's the fusion of Jack, a short, pissy, emo-ish, orphan ten year old who pretty much has a foul temper at first, with Corvus, an electromagnetic being from the planet FM, with the appearance of a black bird and is known as one of FM's most notorious criminals. LOLOLOL.

5) Yuu's mom and Subaru's mom actually look a lot alike too. If I bothered to look up pictures, yea.

EDIT: OH GOD HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN THESE.

6) RnR2 has a reference to the Nazca lines. Seriously. There is a small tribal village called "Nanska" in JPN (a reference to Nazca), and near Nanska are giant pictures drawn in the earth depicting the legend of the hidden land of Mu, known as the "Nanska Lines". The effect is somewhat ruined in the English version, as the name is changed to "Whazzap".

7) The final boss in RnR3 is-get this-the Crimson Dragon. No, I am not kidding. At all. Honest. XD XD XD. It's created when the major villain fuses with a giant "Noise" cluster in outer space that is called "Meteor G".

So...fanart. Right. So, here's the original fanart that I was planning to submit before this loony idea came to me.

1) A sketch of the Megaman from the RnR franchise. Since this was my first attempt at drawing him, I used a picture for reference. I've never really drawn anime-style before that wasn't chibi, so it didn't come out as well as I liked. This drawing was to just get his image in my mind, really. His appearance changes in the third game because of certian plotlines, the most dramatic being that War-Rock is no longer on his left arm. I didn't like that, so I kept him on.

2) Chibi crash. Because I'm horrible like that.

3) Random flying upper half of a chibi.

4) Brother's request. Chibi with cookie.

5) First attempt at chibi-style after drawing number 1.

1) Main protagonist of the RnR series, Hoshikawa Subaru/Geo Stelar. Again, used picture for reference.

2) There is a running gag in the (short-lived and not as well done as I had hoped) anime which involves War-Rock taking joyrides in Subaru's lawnmower and causing mischief. I drew it. Because those moments are adorable.

3) In the first game, back when Subaru is a raging emo, he had a habit of going up to Vista Point (the highest point in town) and staring up at the stars, looking for his father. Hence, quite a few events happen up there in the first game.

4) The electromagnetic being War-Rock/Omega-Xis. Subaru fuses with him (called Denpa Henkan in Japan, Electromagnetic Wave Change/EM Wave Change in US) to become Rockman/Megaman. Another picture drawn with reference pictures.

And...well, since I had no scanner, I ended up drawing more pictures while waiting for it to be up again. So, now there are crossover pictures too. :D

1) Random emo-ing Yuu at Vista Point.

2) In RnR, the items used to attack are no longer called BattleChips, but rather, Battle Cards. You know where my brain went with that, yes? "Battle Card: Silver Wing!"

3) First attempt at drawing EM being!Stardust. I stopped because it was not going all too well.

4) Just as War-Rock enjoys joyriding in Subaru's lawnmower, Stardust enjoys joyriding in Yuusei's D-Wheel. :D

Second attempt at EM being!Stardust. I think this one came out pretty well. I used reference drawings for this too, since it was my first attempt at a realistic Stardust Dragon.

First attempt at Denpa-Henkan'd Yuusei. I used reference drawings to help out with the design. I omitted his eyes because I couldn't get them to look right.

1) Second attempt at Denpa-Henkan'd Yuusei.

2) Chibi Denpa-Henkan'd Yuusei.

3) Close up of Yuu's helmet after Denpa-Henkan.

Because Subaru's and War-Rock's natures are so different, they often create comical situations between them, even during battle. So I made a crack comic with Denpa-Henkan'd Yuusei and Stardust.

This next part would really be only understood by those who RP with me. As they know, my most used pups are the Fudo twins, Ryuusei and Yuusei. A lot of their naming origins actually come from Ryuusei no Rockman. Ryuusei's name was inspired by that series. If anyone has seen them in the DR, they know that they go by the nicknames Gemini White and Gemini Black to tell themselves apart from the other Yuuseis. Those names are actually the names of a boss in RnR1, Gemini Spark, which is the Denpa-Henkan of the EM being Gemini and the boy Futaba Tsukasa (Patrick "Pat" Sprigs in English). When they Denpa-Henkan, they become Gemini Spark White and Gemini Spark Black due to Tsukasa's having split personality disorder and having an alternate persona- Futaba Hikaru (Rey Sprigs in English). Obviously, I came up with those names from that franchise, and so I drew the Fudo twins as the Geminis.

1) The original Gemini Sparks Black and White. Used reference pictures to draw them.

2) The Fudo twins as the Gemini Sparks. Clearly, I was bored when drawing this.

...Clearly I should not become bored.

oh you, megaman starforce, ryuusei no rockman, fanart, crack, comic, crossover, 5d's
