Short bus story (although the bus was actually long)

I left school (for the second time today) at 8:45 pm.  The articulated bus, which is wittily called the B-Line, says it has a load limit of 120 passengers, but that’s just a suggestion.  We leave the bus loop with space for maybe three in the stairwell.

There’s one stop on campus before we’re out into Vancouver, and like twenty people get on.  ( Read more... )

I'm not admitting anything. Nothing at all. Seat this morning, again, at 7 am.

She got a seat!!!! The BEST part about the B-Line is when it whips around that corner at Alma, and you're standing in the articulation. I always got real friendly with my fellow riders then and planned accordingly (not so hard when it was going to a campus; slightly less palatable as it neared the Skytrain station). And bus drivers only come in two varieties: assholes and nice guys. The ones that would cheerfully mow you down, and the ones that stop to let you on when you're only thinking vaguely about taking a bus. I'd love to sit in on their 'customer service' training session, just to see what the bus corp's filling their heads with.

Oh yes, the twin corners at Alma are always an experience. I like sitting with my back to the side of the bus, and a couple of times, I've accidentally slid off the seat entirely on those corners. Um, and caused mass hysteria.

"Customer service"? I don't think Translink understands the phrase. (But, yes, occasionally there are nice drivers. I was on a trolley east on Broadway once recently, going to MEC, and I pulled the cord to stop just before the store. The driver called back, "You headed for MEC?" I said yes, and he dropped me off at the front door!)
