Ani DiFranco - Studying Stones

Aug 24, 2006 23:45

I am out here studying stones
Trying to learn to be less alive
Using all of my will
To keep very still
Still even on the inside
I've cut all of the pertinent wires
So my eyes can't make that connection
I am holding my breath
I am feigning my death
When I'm looking in your direction

'Course numb is an old hat
Old as my oldest memories
See that one's my mother

I love Ani. She's totally the best driving music.

Haven't heard the new album yet, but I love these lyrics.

I can bring a copy of the new one, Reprieve, and Knuckle Down (which is where this one came from) to Feast of Folkestone for you, if you like. I love them both.
Love them, love them, love them.

Ah, that explains it. I have her first album, not so soft, imperfectly, out of range, not a pretty girl, little plastic castles, up up up up up up, revelling/reckoning, evolve, and educated guess... but not the two new ones. Actually, I hadn't even realized that Knuckle Down existed!

Bitchin.

Do you have Dilate? That's one of my favorites. I only have two of the ones you've got (Little Plastic Castle and Not a Pretty Girl), so don't feel bad.
Let me know if you don't have Dilate... (I think that might've been ehr first one) and I'll bring that to FoF, too.
