That's my Jim right there. Honest, cocky, but always wanting to make a hard situation seem light.

This is how I pictured their aftermath to be.

Oh, and deities and profanities is one of the greatest things I've ever read. I love the way that just plays and dances.

There were sparks in my head as I read that tiny portion of that line. Great job.

thank you! Spock and Uhura always make me want to write poetry, there's something so beautiful about the angles and contrasts of them, and the fact that they're both so sensitive to language and sound.

this is lovely. all of the characters are wonderfully drawn. Jim and Bones taking care of everyone is fantastic, the way they work together. and Spock. I really love your Spock. the way he regrets that he can not give in and be what Nyota needs, and then the way he basically says 'fuck it' and does just that anyway.

also, I love any and all stories where Gaila lives. :)

Dude, until someone shows me she didn't, Gaila totally lived. We didn't hear what ship she got assigned to, we just heard Uhura getting assigned to the Farragut. And since she seemed really excited, isn't it logical to assume that she got to be on Big Shiny Flagship? [/rationalization]

Thank you!

First off, I would love to tell you how insanely jealous and speechless I am after reading your Spock. That was so completely brilliant. Everything was so in character, from Spock to Jim and Bones. I wanted to touch this story repeatedly.

Also, I want to tell you about my retardation. It took me ten damn minutes to find the reply button. I looked everywhere for it. It was probably the saddest thing I've done in a while, followed closely by my need to tell you about my mental inadequacy.

I got to tell you that this story was love, though, and that's all the matters.

ahahahahaha god nobody can find it in this layout, no fail on your part! it took me days and days when I put it up to get used to it.

and thank you, Spock's a little more of a stretch than Jim and Bones, to make him that little more formal and intricate and controlled but not make him unutterably tedious to read. I'm glad there felt like there was some sort of balance there. &heart.

Ah. What a gorgeous fic. I love the last line especially, and Jim being a good captain (♥), and the classiness of Spock's letter. I'm glad Spock lets himself have that scene with Nyota at the end.

I see both Spock and Jim having a very strong sense of fair play from how they grew up, from knowing that the universe is not in fact a very fair place and being too stubborn not to fight that in their own way, on their own terms. One of the points of common ground upon which they can meet, start forging that friendship they're destined to have.

and Nyota, well, Spock can tell himself what's logical and kind all he wants to but love is frequently neither, so that one was pretty much inevitable. ;) thank you!

Oh, lovely. I find Spock's POV to be quite a challenge to both read AND write, and you got it just right. And JIM! Oh, Jim. Sigh. ♥.

Dude, I hate Chris Pine for this (with a side of fuck you very much for the efforts of Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman) because I was so not into Shatner's Kirk but the damage and humor and luminosity of his Kirk has turned me into a goddamned captain groupie. it's kind of disgusting, really.

Thank you--Spock's such a balance of formality and that sneaking humor, and then Quinto's Spock still angry and off-balance as opposed to the calm tolerance that Nimoy's Spock has achieved, it's nice to hear that someone else thinks I hit the mark.
