The Dvergr (Dwarfs) are actually the most technologically advanced of all the races in the nine realms. Humans, although they don't know it, are the second most advanced - it used to be the Jotnar, but without the casket and with huge damages they've suffered a technological collapse

You know, that would actually make a lot of sense. It's my head canon that the Aesir aren't very into technology, because they just have little need of it. Why would you invent a tank when you are a tank? Or invest in a high tech a harvester, when you have the strength to plow kilometers of farmland the old fashion way? Invention comes out of necessity after all and the Aesir are just so strong and indestructible that they can rely on their own bodies in most situations. The dwarfs on the other hand could have loads of uses for various tech.

OMG someone PLEASE write this! I am not near tech-savvy enough to do it myself!
(Although... I'm sorry, I can't do the first bonus in my mind, because when I read the line "the Dvergr rescue party peering into his cell from a hole in the ceiling" all I could think of was this.)

'The Dvergr have for themselves all sort of cool toys like phasers and transporters and space ships...' I read this and my mind came up with the (very strange and hilarious) image of the Dwarfs all dressed in Star Fleet uniforms and saying all those iconic lines from the original series.

Ooo, this sounds like it could be fun.
Explosions and "I wonder what this button does..." are very usual parts of Dvergr life. Thanks in no small part to this line I am now imagining the dwarves as a high-tech, more succesful counterpart to Dragonlance's tinker gnomes. I am blaming you. Just saying.
"You are wasted on Asgard..." hehehe :) The Asir(sp?) really aren't that creative are they? Honestly, a hole in the ground? I'm just gonna assume that Odin at least made it impossible (or very difficult) for Loki to get out on his own.
I was thinking magical!oubliette, with pragmatic! Dwarves being all -.- ("Morons. We're taking him somewhere he can be useful")
(I could totally see Odin going "we're going to put you here and forget about you and punish you with total isolation - which will then make you see that we had your best intentions in mind all along (because this wont make you any crazier. Not at all)." (See: Rock & serpent))
lol, Now I've got this image of Odin showing up in the middle of their rescue operation and demanding to know what they're doing and Brokkr giving some smart-ass remark then saying 'What the Hel does it look like we're doing?! We're taking him home with us! Somewhere his talents/intellect will be appreciated!' Then Odin's spewing his BS about how this punishment will give Loki time to realize his wrongdoings and that his family has his best interest in heart. When he's finished, Brokkr & crew (plus Loki, whose gotten out of the hole by now) are just staring at Odin in a way that says more clearly than any words that they think he's a complete and utter MORON. Then without saying a word they just beam up to their waiting space ship and hightail it back home as fast as they can, just in case stupidity is contagious.
Then without saying a word they just beam up to their waiting space ship and hightail it back home as fast as they can, just in case stupidity is contagious. Don't know about contagious - maybe just hereditary?
I don't think the serpent was meant to be in Loki's best interests - by that point everyone was expecting him to bring about Ragnarok as soon as he escaped anyway.
