if this ain't fatal, it'll hurt plenty

Pick one of my stories and tell me a point in the tale that you'd change. Something tiny (e.g. "and then Gerard ate toast instead of cereal") or big (e.g. "and then the Fireman caught Pete on his way to Patrick's") and I'll tell you how that one difference would have altered the course of the entire story.

(Oh hey, you never did post that second part of Stereo Fields, did you? Randomly.)

Also, what if Jesse had actually convinced people during that interview that he was sort of healed and didn't need the full-on lock-away care anymore. *sits?*

Come onliiiiiiiiiine.

That could not have ended well. Regardless of whether not Jesse managed to convince people he was sane, the fact would remain that he wasn't and that Pete's messages to him were half-truths at best. So either he'd be sent home to live a 'normal' life, palm his meds and slump back into the patterns that got him locked away in the first place (or, more likely, given Pete's particular brand of possessive stupidity) he'd have been taken in by the Fall Out Boy vampire-slaying crew. This is problematic because a) his understanding of what they do, and what's going on in the world in general, is deeply flawed and b) Pete's bad at saying no to him, and would probably let him into the field eventually, where'd he do stupidly, suicidally brave things thinking he was protected by the Will and get himself killed, or find out what Pete was actually like (Beckett has been itching to talk to Jesse ever since his spies told him Pete was wandering round an insane asylum at night). This would definitely be bad - I can't see Jesse wanting to hang round ( ... )
