It can finally be announced...

The essay sale I made last year was of my essay "Death's Got Your Back: When Edward and the Big Bad Heavies Are on Your Team" to the SmartPop anthology Ardeur: 14 Writers on the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series edited by Laurell K. Hamilton (with Leah Wilson), coming in April from BenBella Books.

Woot! I love those essay anthology things BenBella puts out!

Didn't you say somewhere or other that you identify as asexual? If I may ask, what do you think about reading books so full of sex?

It'll be interesting to read what people think in the essays. The Anita Blake series generates such strong opinions.

Hmmm, a little weird you ask this, but then maybe you haven't read my own books? Such as Lords of Rainbow or The Duke in His Castle or The Clock King and the Queen of the Hourglass, which are full of sex and sexual themes and motifs. In fact, in much of my writing I explore sexuality -- unusual, sophisticated, androgynous, dysfunctional.

So, yeah, I love reading and writing about sex. :-)

On a convention late night panel about sex (where I was a panelist, forget which con it was) I said to the audience that although personally I am more or less asexual, I love writing about sex, and specially dysfunctional sex -- which is the most real, human kind there is.

Yeah, I guess there is sex in your books. I don't know. I guess I was thinking how the LKH books are more graphic, & lots of people who do wants lots of sex (I assume) get offended over it, & that's different from your books. But I don't get turned on by all of the Anita Blake sex, & I still like the series. So I guess it's like that.

It's just kind of ironic that all these non-asexuals make a furor over the books having sex & an asexual likes them.
